What is Liga Eskwela?
Liga Eskwela is the Henry V. Moran Foundation’s school-based futsal development program that empowers students through sports. Implemented in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), Liga Eskwela brings futsal into public schools across the country—turning classrooms and covered courts into spaces of learning, teamwork, and transformation.
The name Liga Eskwela—literally “School League”—embodies our vision: to make futsal a regular part of every child’s education, and a tool for growth in values, leadership, and life skills.
Our Mission
To develop character and confidence in Filipino youth through structured futsal training and competition at the school level. Liga Eskwela builds not only better players—but better people—by integrating sports into the fabric of everyday education.
What We Do
- Train the Trainers: We equip public school teachers to become certified futsal coaches and referees, empowering them to run their own school-based programs.
- Build School-Based Teams: We help public elementary and high schools create futsal teams and establish regular practice schedules.
- Host Local and Regional Tournaments: Liga Eskwela festivals and competitions give students the opportunity to compete, grow, and represent their schools.
- Promote Gender Equity: We actively recruit and support girls’ teams, creating inclusive spaces where everyone can thrive.
- Integrate Life Skills: Through futsal, students develop discipline, teamwork, leadership, and resilience—skills they carry far beyond the court.
Our Achievements
- Rolled out in over 400 public schools across multiple regions.
- Trained hundreds of teachers in coaching and officiating.
- Hosted numerous local and regional futsal festivals—including the popular Liga Eskwela Futsal Festival.
- Served as the starting point for many young athletes, including Pinay5 national team prospects and scholarship awardees.

Our goal is to integrate futsal more deeply into the national PE curriculum, while expanding Liga Eskwela to every province in the country. We’re building not just leagues—but a legacy of leadership, learning, and love for the game.
