The futsal goalkeeper is unlike any other player on the pitch. Operating in a high-speed, small-sided game where reaction times are measured in split seconds, goalkeepers are not just the last line of defense—they are often the first line of attack.
Recognizing the unique demands of this specialized position, The Henry V. Moran Foundation hosted an intensive Futsal Goalkeeping Camp from May 25–27 at Aquinas School. Over three focused days, six young goalkeepers stepped onto the court to sharpen their instincts, refine their mechanics, and embrace the immense responsibility that comes with wearing the gloves.

Precision, Technique, and Tactical Decision-Making
Because goalkeeping requires individual instruction that general team sessions often cannot provide, this camp was built around a dedicated, small-group structure. With a 3:1 camper-to-mentor ratio, every participant received personalized feedback, individual coaching, and continuous repetition.
The curriculum spanned the entire spectrum of modern futsal goalkeeping:
- Goalkeeping Fundamentals: Perfecting set positions, footwork, hand distribution, and basic handling techniques.
- Advanced Reaction & Shot-Stopping: Masterclassing close-range block saves, split saves, and sliding interventions tailored to hard-court surfaces.
- Tactical Decision-Making: Learning how to read the floor, organize defense during quick transitions, and initiate rapid counter-attacks through accurate throws and passes.
- Match Scenarios: Applying skills under simulated pressure, teaching campers how to stay composed when facing 1-on-1 situations.
Mentorship That Inspires Confidence
A key highlight of the three-day program was the direct guidance provided by guest mentors Mykaella Abeto and Floyd Jofferson Crisologo. Both mentors brought wealth of experience, practical knowledge, and genuine encouragement to the court.
By creating an open, supportive environment, Coach Mykaella and Coach Floyd gave the campers room to ask questions, learn from mistakes, and push past their perceived limits. Beyond physical drills, their mentorship focused heavily on the mental aspects of the game—building the resilience, communication skills, and focus required to command the penalty area.
Character Formation Behind the Gloves
At The Henry V. Moran Foundation, our commitment to sports development goes deeper than technical mastery. We believe that athletic training serves as a foundation for personal character.
Goalkeeping, in particular, is a powerful teacher of accountability and courage. Standing in goal requires a rare blend of mental fortitude, leadership, and self-belief. Watching these six young athletes embrace those responsibilities over three days was a strong testament to the power of targeted sports programs. The discipline and confidence they cultivated on the court are tools they will carry into their classrooms, families, and everyday lives.
A Shared Commitment to Growth
This specialized camp was made possible through the collective effort of our community. We extend our warmest thanks to:
- Our Campers: For showing incredible grit, focus, and passion throughout every intense drill.
- Mentors Mykaella Abeto and Floyd Jofferson Crisologo: For generously sharing their time, expertise, and heart with the next generation.
- Parents & Families: For trusting us with your children’s development and supporting their athletic journeys.
- Aquinas School: For providing an excellent facility for our players to train safely.
As we look ahead to future grassroots programs, moments like these remind us why targeted, quality training matters. We remain dedicated to opening doors, creating specialized opportunities, and empowering young Filipino athletes to reach their full potential—one save at a time.
